Boards of Review

Troop 486 conducts boards of review the Monday night following ???.  Scheduling for the board is done the week prior to the board.

The procedure for scheduling your board is to first, see ??? to confirm all requirements for your rank have been met.  Second, meet with Mr. Kemp to get your name on the list.

On Sunday evening you will usually be called to inform you of the time of your board.  The first boards begin about 7:00pm and the last board usually begins about 9:00pm.  If you have special time requirements please notify ??? at the time you put your name on the list.

Remember that all requirements must be met before a board can be scheduled.  This includes your Scoutmaster Conference.

Scoutmaster Conferences
Scoutmaster conferences are required prior to taking your board for advancement to each rank. This is a time for you to review with an adult leader in the Troop:  a) how you are doing on your Road to Eagle; b) what you need to know for your Board of Review; c) what is in store for you after you reach your next rank; d) to have an opportunity to tell an adult leader in the Troop how your Scouting experience is progressing.

If you are in the Trail To First Class program, see ??? to schedule a Scoutmaster Conference.  If you are in the First to Life program, see ??? or your assigned counselor to schedule a conference.  If you are on your way to Eagle, see ???.

Eagle Boards of Review
New Boards this year!  The Mawat District now provides Eagle Boards of Review ???.  That means boards are offered ???.  Troop 486 Eagle Scout Candidates should be working with the Road to Eagle advisor in preparing your paperwork and records before going for your Eagle board.

The Eagle board is comprised of representatives of the district and one or more leaders from our troop.

Scout Spirit Definition

The troop committee recently clarified our definition of participation for Scout Spirit, a requirement for each scout rank.

In summary, the policy defines Tenderfoot through First Class participation by the requirements of the badge, namely skills only for Tenderfoot, 5 activities for Second Class and 5 more activities for First Class.

Beginning with Star, the requirement will be 50% participation in all troop activities for the rank required time prior to taking the Board of Review.  As an example, Star rank requires 4 months in the First Class rank.  For the 4 months prior to taking the Star Board of Review, the Scout must have 50% participation of meetings and 50% of campouts.  This period is 6 months for Life and 6 months for Eagle.

Any question about this policy can be discussed with the troop committee.
